Giveaway: Win a Pouch from the Nature Pal Exchange

nature-pal-exchange-blog-promo

Nature Pal Exchange began when two homeschool moms, who lived on opposite coasts, decided to collect and exchange nature items that they had found while out exploring. It has grown into a wonderfully vibrant community of nature loving families who not only share nature, but inspire each other to get out and explore our natural world.

Each season the amazing ladies at the Nature Pal Exchange organize a nature pal swap. They match families from different regions throughout the U.S.A (and Canadian families with others living in Canada) so they can exchange nature finds to share and learn more about the wide range of phenomenal nature we have here in North America.

Not only do they take the time to make these matches, which I know from experience is a lot of work, but they also raise money with each swap for a charitable donation.

You can learn more about the Nature Pal Exchange and how to get involved at their website.

Follow along with this inspiring community on Instagram for a wonderful dose of daily nature sharing.

They also have a Society 6 shop you can find here and a Red Bubble shop here.

  • Melissa December 2, 2016, 8:12 am

A favorite of my kids’ was when they were exploring a “hideout” they had started to frequent and they found a couple snail 🐌 shells in the water. Love to see their excitement!

    • Mommastinkyface December 2, 2016, 8:22 am

We have lots of pine trees on our farm. We love to collect them for craft and for fire starters to help keep the wood stove going in the winter. We also love to find snake skins, river rock from our creek and feathers.

Our favourite nature discovery was in our own backyard. We had just gotten chickens and we were digging in our garden. We came across a fat white squishy short curled up worm in the dirt. Soon our feathered girls were going bananas because we had no idea that hens LOVE grubs as much as they do. Most people try to eradicate them from their lawn but we now love digging for them since they are like candy for chicken.

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the Nature Pal Exchange! It’s fun to get nature finds from other places, but my favourite is searching for things to send to our pal. Finding and learning with a purpose is one of the best things!

We participated in our first Nature Pal Exchange in the fall. We absolutely loved it. Now we are preparing our nature crafts for the Christmas Exchange. It is such a wonderful online community.

We LOVE the Nature Pal Exchange! Through this great program we’ve experienced natural treasures from four very different parts of the country (so far), and made some great friends. In fact, one of my very best IG friends is our first Nature Pal! Our favorite find to send to one of our pals was an empty turtle shell. :)

  • Lise McGuinness December 2, 2016, 8:59 am

We joined the Nature Pal Exchange group for the first time this Christmas! Our most exciting recent find was rescuing a Cedar Waxwing that struck our living room window. It was stunned, so we carefully placed in a shoebox and got to observe up close all of its amazing markings! It hissed at us and puffed up defensively to let us know it was ready to go!

  • Missy December 2, 2016, 10:28 am

What a great idea to swap nature finds!

  • LeKeshua December 2, 2016, 10:39 am

We have nature finds from four different states displayed around our home – we love it!

  • Melissa Momper December 2, 2016, 11:17 am

We found a turtle skull in the pond while canoeing. We are in a city so finding anything like that is rare. My little one LOVED it!!!

  • Amanda December 2, 2016, 11:30 am

Our family’s favorite nature finds have been a couple of salamanders on a trail we were hiking and a robin’s nest (with babies!) in our front bushes. Having those close encounters with nature really get us all excited for what we might see next!

  • AmandaG December 2, 2016, 11:37 am

  • Fiona nixon December 2, 2016, 12:56 pm

This is a sweet little pouch, we are always finding neat stuff. My truck actually has baskets for everything lol. The latest find was a small snake skin. We transfer things into little glass jars when at home but this pouch would be great on the trail.

  • Lydia December 2, 2016, 1:29 pm

We found a tiny frog my son loved to follow!

  • Chiska December 2, 2016, 1:37 pm

The most exciting are abandoned bird’s nest. We really like rocks though and interesting sticks.

  • Abby December 2, 2016, 2:29 pm

So happy to have found you. We love finding treasures when out on a walk. We always have to take baskets or bags to collect nuts and leaves, cones and shells and more :-) lots of fun!

  • Sara Robison December 2, 2016, 2:34 pm

It’s too hard to list just one favorite! But pixie cup lichen was such a delight to stumble upon.

  • Becca December 2, 2016, 5:34 pm

I am so glad I recently discovered this website and the Nature Pal Exchange. It’s such an amazing idea. I think our best nature find would have to be something in my daughters mineral collection. Thanks!

  • Crystal D December 2, 2016, 5:43 pm

We’ve participated in the Nature Pal Exchange four times so far. Some of the amazing things we’ve been sent have been Lake County Diamonds, a skull from a small mammal, a HUGE chink of wolf lichen from Sierra National Forest, and a deer antler!

The most amazing find we’ve made was two intact horseshoe crabs. We kept one for our own collection, and sent the other to our Nature Pals!

  • Susan Hata December 2, 2016, 9:15 pm

I appreciate your blog and the nature pal exchange Instagram account so much!

  • tamara December 2, 2016, 10:08 pm

Eek!! LOVE! What a wonderful week of giveaways, Dawn!! Yay!! ❤

  • Dawn Harris December 2, 2016, 11:46 pm

My personal favorite nature find from my childhood is a naturally shed deer antler. I still have it in an honored place on a bookshelf and it reminds me of my younger self. Anything my boys find is precious to me and when they offer it as a gift from their heart, it makes mine melt!

  • Michelle S December 3, 2016, 12:58 am
